The firm was created based on two simple ideas as guiding principles.

First, it is rooted in the more traditional idea of the role of the architect as a master builder.  The idea that the architect should have a deep understanding of the tectonics of design as well as building construction, gained through practical experience.  We excel at understanding the science of building systems and how these systems influence the overall design of a building.  We as master builders strive to take an active role in all scales of design by utilizing our facility with the parts and pieces of building construction resulting in a craftsmanship of the design of the building from the largest concept down to the smallest details.

Second, the firm embraces technology to the greatest extent possible to improve the speed and accuracy of the design and documentation, as well as increase our ability to collaborate across the building disciplines.  Utilizing cloud computing technology we have created a collaborative environment that facilitates a flexibility of involvement by specialized design professionals.  We have created a consortium of architects who are masters of their specialty and who, depending on the requirements of the project, can be involved as expert consultants, collaborators or partners to successfully deliver even the most complex and specialized projects.

The firm provides full service architectural services, as well as General Contractor construction services.  Mark R. Yoo is a licensed architect in six states and is certified by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards for reciprocity in all fifty states.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Architects, a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of the International Code Council, and a licensed General Contractor in Virginia.  He has over fifteen years of experience as an architect ranging from wood framed single family residential design and construction to multi-building mixed use commercial developments exceeding one-million square feet to class A commercial interiors including government certified Secure Compartmentalized Information Facilities [SCIF].  Mark also serves as the Senior Project Manager for the Northeast Region for Jones, Hill, McFarland & Ellis a national real estate advisory firm, whom Mark conducts detailed facility analyses for major hotel chains including Marriot and InterContinental Hotels Group.
